KUCHING: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong urged the related department to look into the flooding at Taman Durianda at Mile 19 Jalan Kuching-Serian.

She said on Jan 18 last year, a five-year-old child almost drowned while he was walking in the flood with his father. Fortunately, a neighbour saved him.

She said after inspecting the site, she found that the drainage system needed upgrading to solve the flash flood problem which has plagued the area for more a decade.

She also said residents want flood barriers to be built to prevent water entering their houses.
